Free conference and lunch
Croydon Local Authority and Croydon Clinical Commissioning Group invite you to a free conference – THE MENTAL CAPACITY ACT PROTECTING PEOPLE’S RIGHTS AND BEST INTERESTS
This conference is to help service users; carers; patients and the public to understand the Mental Capacity Act and its importance in providing care and treatment – protecting the rights of people to make decisions for themselves, and being clear about how others should act if a person lacks capacity to make a decision for themselves.
The Law Commission will present proposals to review the legal safeguards where a person’s care involves restrictions that may deprive them of their liberty. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear what is proposed and to provide their views towards the consultation – we want to hear the views of people who might be affected by this.
This conference is open to all members of the public, advocacy services, service user groups, carer groups and the voluntary sector.
The conference is on Friday 16th October 2015 at Fairfield Hall – 10am to 3pm.
To book a place or places please email andrea.barter@croydon.gov.uk or telephone 020 8726 6000 Ext 63704 by Friday 2nd October 2015.
